Features and Advantages of Duplex Stainless Steel
- Excellent Corrosion Resistance
– Duplex stainless steel combines the benefits of austenite and ferrite. It surpasses traditional stainless steel in corrosion resistance. It effectively resists pitting, crevice corrosion, and other forms of corrosion, especially in chlorine-containing environments. Common grades like S32205 and S32760 offer particularly high corrosion resistance.
- Excellent Strength and Toughness

Differences Between Duplex Stainless Steel and Other Stainless Steels
- Chemical Composition
– Duplex stainless steel has higher chromium, nickel, and a certain proportion of molybdenum. For example, S32205 contains about 22% chromium and 5% nickel. Ordinary 304 or 316 stainless steel is primarily austenitic, lacking the superior performance of duplex stainless steel.
- Corrosion Resistance
– Duplex stainless steel performs better in chlorine-containing environments. It resists pitting and crevice corrosion more effectively than 304 and 316 stainless steels, which have good corrosion resistance but not as strong in certain corrosive environments.
- Strength
– Duplex stainless steel has a higher tensile strength than ordinary austenitic stainless steel. For example, S32760 has a tensile strength of up to 800 MPa. This provides stronger pressure-bearing capacity and stable operation under high pressure.

– Duplex stainless steel is more expensive than 304 and 316 stainless steels due to higher material costs and processing difficulties.
